Walter Brown “Brownie” McGhee was born in Knoxville on November 30, 1915, and overcame polio to become one of the greats in Blues music history. We celebrate his birthday and Knoxville’s estimable Blues history with one of Knoxville’s newest bands, Big Jon & The Nationals, and its current longest running Blues band, Slow Blind Hill

Band: The Mumbles
$8 General Admission
$4 with Membership or student ID
Free for ages 17 and under
Their name may be The Mumbles, but their music is anything but soft and indistinct. Keyboardist/singer Keith Burnstein and drummer/singer Ethan Shorter are Brooklyn transplants to New Orleans, where they are becoming entrenched in the vibrant musical heritage of the Big Easy. They have performed as a duo and are the heart and soul of The Mumbles, but they’ll be adding some muscle in the form of a horn section, Wes Anderson (trombone) and Eric Bernhart (tenor sax) to create a groovy gumbo of soul music and old time jazz. All you swingin’ cats and chicks may be wondering – Can you dance to it? A better question would be – How can you NOT dance to it?
So come and hear some great music and get some awesome food! A good idea for a date night in the city!
